Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE ) is proud to announce her new Board of Directors elected into office on Tuesday 22 nd January 2013. The new board will serve for 3 years and their term expires in 2015.   This is an exciting time for FOWODE as our new Board members bring diverse, inspiring perspectives and wide-ranging experiences, as well as significant achievements in their fields of expertise. One of the founder members of Forum for Women in Democracy , Winnie Byanyima has been appointed as the next leader of OXFAM International , a job she will take on starting April 2013.  On behalf of the Founder members, the board, management and staff of FOWODE , we congratulate Winnie on her new appointment which has thrilled not only Uganda but also the region and the globe. As an organization that advocates for the increased numbers and visibility of women in decision making, FOWODE is elated that her leadership virtues continue to move her to places beyond any of our wildest imaginations and that she continues opening doors for many other women in Uganda.  FOWODE commends Winnie Byanyima for her diligence, transformational leadership attributes, and passion for women’s rights, gender equality and social justice. Citizens’ action against theft of public funds in Uganda

As the year begun, Forum for Women in Democracy (FOWODE) participated in the Black Monday campaign which involved “vending” of Black Monday flyers and newspapers on 7th July 2013. Patricia Munabi Babiiha the Executive Director of FOWODE and Robinah Rubimbwa Executive Director of the Center for Women in Governance ( CEWIGO ) as well as FOWODE Staff were stationed in Ntinda and the Nakawa road – Ssemawata junction respectively. They were backed up by Carol Namagembe of FOWODE, Rachel Okuja of CEWIGO in Ntinda and Emmanuel Kashaija at Semawata. All the 96 copies of the newspaper and hundreds of flyers were given out to motorists, boda boda cyclists, pedestrians, shop attendants, security guards, a saloon owner and passengers in Matatus and 2 Pioneer buses.
